Description

Ingredients

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup dark molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  • 1- Prepare Dough:
    • In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
    • Beat in the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract until smooth.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  • 2- Chill Dough:
    • Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to prevent spreading and enhance flavor.
  • 3- Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • 4- Shape and Coat:
    • Roll chilled dough into 1-inch balls and coat in granulated sugar. Place on prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  • 5- Bake:
    • Bake for 13–15 minutes, or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
    • Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
